Avalanche off to a great start in the NPL

01s Kenli

Avalanche’s 01s and 00s played their first NPL games a week ago with great results to show for their efforts.

The 01s, coached by Kelli Smith, kicked off the weekend with a 7-0 win over Forza & followed that up with a 6-0 win over Utah Surf. The girls played some very good soccer through the weekend, displaying their possession style combined with quality finishing. Goalkeeper Erika Oldham led the team to the back to back shutouts with multiple players picking up goals over the two games.

The 00s, coached by Justin Fite, kept to the theme of the weekend beating Forza 3-0 in the last game of the weekend. The team got out to an early lead with a fantastic set piece from Heaven Kelley. Sam Corbett then followed up with a well placed goal of her own to take the 2-0 lead into halftime. Corbett finished with a brace by adding her second goal of the contest midway through the second half to close out the scoring. Goalkeeper Riley Wood made a few big time saves to hold on to the shutout.

Great work girls!
